Today’s Woodlands - Our Resource for Tomorrow

The Forest Service in conjunction with the Teagasc Forestry Development Unit held a series of woodland and forestry information events in West Cork in October. Essentially this was a pilot project which proved valuable in assessing different approaches and methods of delivering a positive forestry message, particularly highlighting the multifunctional nature of our woodlands.

The programme was a showcase for the many benefits of woodlands and events ran 4th to 16th October. The programme, with the working title Today’s Woodlands - Our Resource for Tomorrow took place in an area bounded by Macroom, Bandon, Clonakilty and Dunmanway.

Events included the regular Teagasc demonstration events, Sustainable Energy Ireland events, woodland walks and seminars aimed at particular topics. CRANN are committed to this exciting project and hosted our Schools Tree Project in West Cork schools during the event. We look forward to working with the Forest Service, Teagasc and other organisations on similar initiatives in the future.

CRANN hosted the Schools Tree Project in West Cork Schools in October '09. This was part of a series of events taking place under the title 'Today's Woodlands - Our Resource for Tomorrow'.
