Crann MagazineCrann, the magazine, is a mix of technical and non-technical material. The subject that most articles have in common is (surprise, surprise) trees, though we do feature interesting and relevant pieces about the environment and wildlife, plants and nature, and all that sort of stuff.
We just love and appreciate the landscape, be it rural or urban, the back garden, over the roadside hedge, or the far-off mountainside. Especially when it has trees in it. The one thing we’re not is stuffy. And, while we have a special interest in promoting trees that are native to Ireland, we don’t turn up our collective nose at anything to do with trees, whether they are foreign nationals or natives of deepest Leitrim.
Crann, the magazine, is a high-quality quarterly publication mailed directly to members of Crann, the organisation. The wonderful thing about Crann, the magazine, is that it’s mainly written by the members themselves – who also supply the pictures. The entire package is then put together by a professional team comprising the Editor, the Designer and the Printers.
If you have an article in mind that you would like to see published in Crann, here’s what to do. Crann publish a quarterly magazine for all its members, full of fascinating articles about trees, wildlife and the environment. Whats in the Current IssueThis is a very special issue: it amalgamates the Autumn and Winter 2011 issues in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of Crann, the organisation. This bumper issue (72 pages) makes for fascinating reading. It goes back over that quarter century and reveals the struggle behind the process of starting an organisation to re-leaf Ireland. Jan Alexander, the Australian woman who formed Crann, recounts her adventures; current Crann chairperson Ger Clarke makes interesting connections with the past, present and future; Mark Johnston describes how a Scotsman (he’s erroneously described as an Englishman in the magazine – sorry, Mark!) got involved; board member Michael Carey tells the story of tree planting in Ireland. Plus lots, lots more! An amalgamation of Autumn and Winter 2011 issues celebrating 25 years of Crann. |
