Crann MagazineCrann, the magazine, is a mix of technical and non-technical material. The subject that most articles have in common is (surprise, surprise) trees, though we do feature interesting and relevant pieces about the environment and wildlife, plants and nature, and all that sort of stuff.
We just love and appreciate the landscape, be it rural or urban, the back garden, over the roadside hedge, or the far-off mountainside. Especially when it has trees in it. The one thing we’re not is stuffy. And, while we have a special interest in promoting trees that are native to Ireland, we don’t turn up our collective nose at anything to do with trees, whether they are foreign nationals or natives of deepest Leitrim.
Crann, the magazine, is a high-quality quarterly publication mailed directly to members of Crann, the organisation. The wonderful thing about Crann, the magazine, is that it’s mainly written by the members themselves – who also supply the pictures. The entire package is then put together by a professional team comprising the Editor, the Designer and the Printers.
If you have an article in mind that you would like to see published in Crann, here’s what to do. Crann publish a quarterly magazine for all its members, full of fascinating articles about trees, wildlife and the environment. Whats in the Current IssueIn the current issue of Crann, we have the results of our Open Photographic Competition. We had another successful year of entries with a huge diversity on the subject matter. Our Cover story reviews the publication of two new books, which coincidentally have the same name 'If Trees Could Talk', both are written by Crann Directors. We feature the RDS/Forest Service Forestry Awards 2009 and were delighted to see Jan Alexander receive the Special Judges' Award for her major contribution to forestry. Mark McDowell reports on the UK National Hedgelaying Championships and Luke Eastwood's article focuses on reclaiming our tree heritage.
